The manufacturing industry is being transformed by digitalization, sustainability demands, and globalization. From the SME perspective, digitalization is hindered by a lack of clarity about the benefits, limited practical guidance, and insufficient resources, capabilities, and expertise. This occurs despite strong national conditions for digital adoption, supported by broad product expertise, global orientation, and skilled personnel.

 

The digital twin navigation map addresses these challenges by providing a practical toolset for assessing company‑level digital‑twin capabilities. It overviews the current maturity level and highlights key development areas through structured readiness questions and clear evaluation criteria. The implementation of digital navigation map has been explained with different examples.  It supports companies in defining technological development paths towards digital transformation and data-based decision-making.
